Come and celebrate two decades of Fleet Europe with us!

“It was twenty years ago today...” Thus begins Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Like that seminal Beatles album, we too can look back two decades to the beginning of something wonderful. Back in 1997, we published the very first issue of Fleet Europe magazine. Oh, how the world – and the fleet industry – has changed since then! Join us on this trip down memory lane...

December 1997. James Cameron's film Titanic debuts in cinemas worldwide. Bill Clinton is almost one year into his second term as U.S. president. And Fleet Europe #1 is published. On the cover: Michel Moonens, then fleet manager for Digital. Back then, international fleet management was a great idea whose time had come. And Fleet Europe was there to report on its rise and rise.

And that is what we have done in every single issue since – more than 90 in total. Over the past twenty years, Fleet Europe has focused on the megatrends that continue to transform fleet management: supplier consolidation, the digital revolution, the rise of alternative powertrains, connected and autonomous driving.

But the biggest trend of all is the complete transfiguration of fleet management itself – from an activity confined to single countries, and almost an afterthought even for fleet operators themselves, into a full-fledged industry of its own. And that industry is not just central to the operational and financial success of the corporates it serves, but even leads the way in the mobility revolution that will completely redesign the way our societies will get from A to B in the future.

Join us and our industry experts for a look back on the exciting road our industry has followed over the past two decades – not just for the sake of nostalgia, but also because knowing the past will help us to better see the future.

Here are some articles that mark the evolution of international fleet management, both in volume and maturity.

Twenty Years of Fleet Europe Party

And that is why Fleet Europe wants to celebrate its 20th anniversary with you, face to face and with a drink in our hands. So be our guest at the Fleet Europe Summit 2017 in Estoril, Portugal. On December 6th, after we have celebrated the Fleet Europe Awards together, stick around for a birthday party that will be as memorable in twenty years' time as our first issue still is today!
